BC Program

The Sino-Canada BC high school program is fully accredited by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and is inspected annually to ensure quality education for our students.  Studying at Sino-Canada offers students a unique opportunity to learn the British Columbia curriculum from Canadian teachers in China.

The Sino-Canada BC program offers all BC Ministry required courses.  In addition to required courses, we pride ourselves on offering a breadth of elective courses.  The array of courses offered provides our students the opportunity to choose classes that align with their interests and post-secondary goals.

A full time course load for students, which puts them on track to graduate with a BC diploma, is seven four-credit courses per year.  The BC timetable consists of four blocks that run from 7:45am - 2:20pm on Monday - Thursday and 7:45am - 11:30am on Friday.

British Columbia Preparation I and II Program

The Preparation programs were created for students who have aspirations of graduating with a BC diploma but who do not yet have the English language skills to be successful in the rigorous BC high school program.

British Columbia Preparation students are given a full time schedule designed with an emphasis on English language acquisition and development.  The objective of the British Columbia Preparation programs is for students to not only acquire the language skills necessary to gain entry and be successful in the BC program but also be part of the BC program and culture.

Junior Program

The Sino-Canada Junior program is for students in Grades Seven to Nine.  The aim for many students in the Junior program is to learn enough English to be students in the Sino-Canada high school BC program.  With that in mind, Sino-Canada has created a program that will allow our junior students to reach their academic goals.

Our program is unique in that instruction is in both Chinese and English.  While course content is mandated by the government of China, junior students at Sino-Canada are taught Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts in English.  The remainder of the Junior program courses are taught in Chinese.

Primary Program

The Sino-Canada Primary program is for students in Grades One to Six.  Students receive instruction in both English and Chinese.

Chinese teachers give lessons in all subject areas.  English instruction is received through ESL and culture classes.  Students in Grades One to Four receive four hours per week of English instruction; students in Grades Five and Six receive five hours per week of English instruction.

The goal is for students to gain a foundation of the English language so that they may seamlessly transition into the Junior program.
